Our society is facing growing social, economic, and environmental challenges. I believe that supporting people to be healthy, happy, and live well is fundamental to overcoming these challenges and building a more sustainable future. Guided by my core professional values of excellence, integrity and fairness, I provide evidence-informed insight and pragmatic advice. I support communities and organisations to make decisions that promote long-term health, wellbeing and sustainability.

I have over a decade of experience working across healthcare, research, policy and advisory roles in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. After graduating from the University of Galway, I trained as a medical doctor and practised in hospitals across Ireland. During this time, I developed a strong appreciation of the role health plays in enabling people to live well and lead fulfilling lives.

As a doctor, I developed a deep appreciation of the importance of evidence in decision-making and completed a Master of Science in Evidence-Based Healthcare at University College London. I subsequently earned a higher research degree (Doctorate of Medicine) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland for my work evaluating healthcare quality, and further developed my research skills through interdisciplinary work at the University of Galway and the University of Limerick.

Building on my experience as a clinician and researcher, I joined the Health Service Executive’s Public Health service, where I trained as a Specialist in Public Health Medicine. This work deepened my understanding of the social, economic, and environmental conditions that underpin a healthy, thriving population. I saw first-hand the challenges faced by communities and organisations seeking to improve people’s lives and expand opportunity by shaping the conditions in which they live. To strengthen my ability to navigate the systems that influence the places and environments in which we live, I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Planning and Environmental Law.
